Driving sustainability and recycling in fiber-based packaging with 4evergreen

In 2019, as discussions around the impact of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD) gained momentum, Billerud participated in workshops organized by Cepi. It became evident that addressing the challenges of sustainable packaging required a collaborative platform. Thus, 4evergreen was born—an alliance with a clear goal: to increase the recycling rate of fiber-based packaging to 90% by 2030.

“It's a collective effort, not only within Billerud, but also with like-minded partners worldwide, supporting the transition to a low-carbon society. We are proud to be part of alliances like 4evergreen, driving sustainability in fiber-based packaging”, says Ulrika Wedberg, EVP Sustainability & Public Affairs.

What is 4evergreen?

Formed in 2020, 4evergreen aims to boost fiber-based packaging's role in a circular economy. Starting with 45 companies, it has now grown to over 110 members from the entire value chain, including research institutes. 4evergreen set a bold goal: to increase the recycling rate of fiber-based packaging to 90% by 2030.
